MatterForge for iPhone

Give every material a job.

Build three-part prototypes, satisfy game constraints, and compare your design trials.

About MatterForge

MatterForge starts with a Design Bench. Six original briefs ask you to choose a frame, shell and signal path from 27 materials, meet role-specific property targets and stay within a bench-credit budget. Save a trial, revise a component, and compare your latest two trials. The separate Forge mode starts with eight materials and discovers 19 recipes across four eras. Ratings from 0–100 and credits are authored game rules, not measured material properties, engineering validation or money; trials do not simulate physical assemblies.

Getting started

  1. In Bench, open a brief and read its property targets and credit budget.
  2. Choose a material for each of the Frame, Shell and Signal path roles. All 27 are available in this mode.
  3. Inspect the current constraint checks and tap Run bench trial. Failed trials are kept too.
  4. Revise a component and run another trial. The comparison shows changed materials, satisfied checks and credits. Your latest 20 trials per brief and current assembly resume after relaunch.
  5. Open Forge for the separate combination game, Archive for discovered samples, or Guide for instructions and separate resets.

Frequently asked questions

Does MatterForge need an account or internet connection?

No. MatterForge does not require an account, and your game progress stays on your iPhone.

Why did two materials not produce a discovery?

Only specific pairs produce a new material, and the order of the pair does not matter. Try another pairing or use a hint. Your attempt still contributes to the statistics shown in Guide.

How do I start over?

Open Guide, choose Reset research progress, and confirm. This permanently clears your Forge discoveries and statistics, then restores the eight starter materials. Reset design bench separately clears assemblies and trial history; neither reset clears the other mode.

What if saved bench data is unreadable?

The app preserves it and pauses bench changes. Use Export preserved bench data through Apple’s file picker before choosing an explicit reset.

What accessibility features are supported?

MatterForge supports VoiceOver labels and spoken context for its main controls and discoveries. Haptic feedback accompanies important interactions where supported.

What information does the app collect?

MatterForge does not collect personal data, run analytics, show ads, or track you. Read the app-specific Privacy Policy for details.
