About Riff Engine

Riff Engine is a private thought extractor, not a teleprompter. A short card asks you to defend, diagnose, remember, advise, connect, or predict. Speak from lived experience, reveal a nudge only when needed, and move on when the useful point lands. The bundled practice deck and on-device thought compiler work without an account, subscription, or network connection.

Getting started

  1. Build an optional thought profile from your experience, proof, and lessons, or choose Skip setup.
  2. On Today, choose Start Riffing to begin with the available offline cards.
  3. Answer the card naturally. Use Help only when the thought stalls.
  4. Choose Different Energy, More Like This, or Never Show Again to shape later sessions.
  5. Finish the session to save its card history. You may later import a recording for on-device transcript analysis.

Frequently asked questions

Does Riff Engine need an account or subscription?

No. There is no account, paywall, or subscription. The primary workflow works offline on a clean install.

Does it record me?

No. Riff Engine does not request camera or microphone access. You can choose an existing audio or video file to import. The app copies it into private app storage and requires speech recognition to remain on-device.

Why did a card disappear?

A card is marked as shown as soon as it appears, so ordinary sessions do not repeat it. Shown cards remain in session history for deliberate replay. Never Show Again also archives the underlying thought.

What are Advanced content sources?

They are optional addresses that you configure yourself for additional cards or strategy suggestions. They are blank and disabled on a fresh install, and the bundled practice path does not depend on them.

How do I remove my data?

Remove saved recordings from their session, clear optional source addresses and the Fresh Riff token in Settings, or delete the app to remove its app-container data. Because Apple Keychain items can survive app deletion, clear the Fresh Riff token before deleting the app when that credential must also be removed.

Need help?

Include your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, and a short description of what happened. Do not send a private recording, transcript, or source token.
